"A light at the end of the tunnel... I was chuckling to myself as I watched!" - Audience member.
Escape reality with Erik Satie's music, reimagined for film and the internet by the award-winning team behind The Goldberg Variations: Meditations On Solitude, Historiae de divini // Tales of the Divine and Stravinsky Septet.
This work is directed by Jonathan Berman.
This filmed performance was released on Friday, 29th of January 2021 at 9am UK time. You can still purchase a ticket to watch at anytime that suits you.
Sports et divertissements (Sports and Pastimes), is a series of 21 very short works. The score was originally published as a collectible item with illustrations by Charles Martin and calligraphy by Erik Satie himself.
Satie deliberately made this work 'unperformable' and we have taken on the challenge in a very 21st-century way: a digitally-native, multimedia and interactive performance made for audiences watching online.
The result is something completely new: and not a format that Satie could have imagined. Try it, and tell us what you think.
Erik Satie: Sports et Divertissements arranged by Dominic Muldowney is by permission of Universal Edition A.G. Wien.
This show is only available to people located in the United Kingdom.
