'Rich and refined sensibilities.' (La Nación)
Piazzolla's music has constituted an integral part of the Cuarteto Gianneo's programming since their formation, culminating in a recording of his 'Tango Sensations' in 2014 featuring Piazzolla's very own bandoneon player, Rodolfo Mederos. For this event they join forces with a new talent, Horacio Romo, to present Piazzolla's complete works for string quartet, alongside a selection of some of his more popular pieces, arranged by José Bragato and Angel Negelatti.
The Cuarteto Gianneo are widely known as Argentina's top string quartet, having been named 'Best Chamber Music Ensemble' four times by the Argentine Society of Music Critics; 'Oustanding Personality of Culture' by the Legislature of Buenos Aires; and 'Best Chamber Ensemble of Argentina' by the Konex Foundation. Ardent ambassadors of Argentine composers of all periods, they have worked tirelessly since their foundation in 2ooo to promote the vast Argentine string-quartet repertoire, including premiering works by Alberto Ginastera, and by their namesake composer, Luis Gianneo. They have taken this music to Argentina's most prestigious concert halls, with regular appearances at the Teatro Colón, the CCK and on national radio, as well as performing extensively internationally.
