In honor of Halloween, Fern has put together a spooky (and hopefully fun!) exploration of some of the creepiest ballads in the English and Scottish folk tradition. In the style of her podcast, Of Song and Bone, Fern will perform four songs and discuss the context behind the stories, as well as her own relationship to the ballads.
Ballads performed are: "Long Lankin," "Lady Gay" / "The Wife of Usher's Well," "Sweet William's Ghost," and "Northlands" / "Lady Isabel and the Elf Knight." The songs include themes of serial murder, home invasion, child death, and the awakened dead, so use discretion if the content is not for you!
This performance has been pre-recorded, but Fern will be chatting during the broadcast if you are watching live.
This show is only available to people located in the United Kingdom.
