January has gone already!... don’t worry, you didn’t miss one, we took a little break.… but, we are delighted to announce that our February Concert will be given by the Award winning Harpist Lucinda Taylor.
Anyone who did catch our Variety Christmas concert will have heard Lucinda’s beautiful performance of just one stunning piece which was truly spellbinding.
Lucinda’s programme on 24th February will include Baroque Flamenco by Deborah Henson Conant, and Variations on a theme of Haydn by Marcel Grandjany.
Lucinda was awarded the harp scholarship at the University of Hull and graduated with a 2:1. She started playing the harp when she was 7 years of age, and is much in demand playing for weddings and also for events in restaurants and hotels.
Lucinda has worked closely with the Catrin Finch Academy, run by Catrin herself who is a former Royal Harpist, and with her first teacher, Elinor Bennett, coaching other International harpists over the past two years. She had the privilege of participating in a masterclass with former Royal Harpist Claire Jones, and also attended Claire’s International Harp School in Cardigan, Wales where she played with the American Youth Harp Ensemble.
Lucinda has performed with many orchestras including the North Yorkshire Schools Symphony Orchestra led by Simon Wright, Royal Northern Sinfonia and in St Cecilia conducted by Xen Kelsey MBE. She has also played with both the Hull Philharmonic and Lincoln Symphony Orchestra with Andrew Penny MBE, and in the University of Hull Orchestra and other ensembles within the University. She has had a trial for the Northern Sinfonia, and played in the Vacation Chamber Orchestra for their winter course. She was delighted to tutor on the Yorchestra Summer Course in York University.
In September 2022, to pursue her masters in harp performance, she hopes to attend the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
