Live Lounge with Ongar Music Club - “The Piano Boat” for a Nocturnal Celebration

Ongar Music Club is delighted to present "The Piano Boat" as part of our Online "Live Lounge" Concert Series. Before Covid restrictions, "The Piano Boat" fast became a new way of bringing classical music to audiences in and around London, surrounded by the intrigue and beauty of the canals. The boat is designed for and dedicated to musical events, carrying a beautiful Steinway Model A grand piano in the Concert Saloon.

Our performer is the outstanding pianist, Masayuki Tayama. Born in Japan, he spent much of his childhood in London, and had made his radio debut by the age of 10, going on to win several prizes at national and international competitions. A highly experienced performer, his playing style is one of stunning sensitivity and incredible power. Extremely versatile, he specialises in the piano works of Rachmaninov, though is equally adept at and comfortable with the music of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and their contemporaries.

Built and designed to the highest specifications, "The Piano Boat" is a unique opportunity to experience the finest classical music whilst enjoying a hidden side of London and the heritage of the historical inland waterways. We are delighted to be able to join him online, to relax in an immersive experience of breath-taking classical music aboard the boat upon the hidden world of the canal network.
